"First time I walked out with a plan."

4.9from women who read it first
Helen, 52 · AdelaideMenopause guide

Three years of ten-minute appointments and "let's wait and see". I read the Doctor Kit on the Sunday, tracked four weeks, walked in with the page. My GP read it, looked up and said "this is really helpful". First time I walked out with a plan.

Rachel, 46 · BrisbanePerimenopause guide

Regular periods, never had a hot flush, and I was sure I was losing my mind. Page nine, the bit about progesterone going first, and I actually cried. Nobody had told me. Not one doctor.

Sue, 58 · PerthPost-menopause guide

I thought I was past all this. The bones and heart chapter is the conversation my GP should have started five years ago. Booked the scan the same week. Better late than at 70.

Michelle, 49 · GeelongComplete set

Honestly bought the set because I had no idea which one I was. Turns out Meno. The other two went to my sister and my mum, and Mum rang me in tears. Good tears.

Karen, 54 · NewcastleMenopause guide

I'd spent more than this on supplements in one month, on a blog's say-so. Fifty-five pages that actually explain what's happening beat a cupboard full of bottles. Wish I'd had it at 45.

I nearly didn't buy it because I thought "another PDF". It isn't. It's the map. Only reason it's four stars: I wanted it at 40, not 45. Nobody needs to know I have it, which matters to me.

You'll know if this is you

It usually goes like this.

"Just really suddenly, I couldn't sleep anymore."

3:12am. Heart going. You've never had a panic attack in your life. You're the one who copes.

"You've got a lot on. It's probably stress."

Ten minutes. A head tilt. A sleeping pill. You walk out scared and somehow more tired.

"What is wrong with you?"

Your daughter, last Tuesday, after you snapped at her over nothing. That one breaks something.

"I thought I was getting dementia."

So you decide it's you. You google at 3am. Nobody says the word.

It has a name. It's not you. It's the hormones, and the silence around them.

Two minutes, honest not hopeful

Still regular, roughly the same as always
Still coming, but changed: closer, further apart, heavier, skipped
Stopped less than 12 months ago
Stopped between 1 and 5 years ago
Stopped more than 5 years ago
No periods because of surgery, an IUD, treatment or medication
In the last three months, tick what's true
I wake at 2 or 3am and can't get back to sleep
Anxiety showed up out of nowhere, worse in the morning
I stop halfway through a sentence and lose the word
Rage, or tears in the car, and I don't know why
Heat from nowhere, or sheets soaked at night
Joints that ache, mornings that are stiff
I've snapped at my kids and hated myself for it
I've been told "it's probably stress" or "you're too young"

What's in your guide

Three guides. One for each stage.

A woman at 43 and a woman at 58 are not living the same thing. Each guide is complete on its own, about 55 pages, built for a phone screen.

The Tools file

The 4-week tracker, the one-page GP sheet, the question card. Stick them on the fridge.

The signature piece

Stop begging. Bring the case.

Women told the Senate inquiry they had to "present a case and beg". The Doctor Kit builds the case for you, in five steps.

1

Document, 4 weeks

"I have hot flushes" is information. "Four a day, and I've stopped presenting at work" is a case.

2

Prepare, 1 page

History, medications, the five changes that weigh most, what you want to leave with.

3

Book the right appointment

Since July 2025, Medicare funds a dedicated menopause health assessment. Ask for it by name.

4

Ask the twelve questions

Word for word, on a card you can hold.

5

If you're dismissed

"It's just stress." "You're too young." "Your bloods are normal." The calm one-sentence answer to each.

From the twelve questions
01"Based on my age and what I've described, could this be perimenopause or menopause?"
04"Is a blood test useful in my case, or not?"
12"If you're not the right person for this, who is?"
07"Is menopausal hormone therapy something we should discuss for me, and why or why not?"
Nine more inside, plus the script for the last two minutes.
Why this exists

"I was told it was stress. Twice."

Nicole, 47, Geelong. Two teenagers, a good job, and eighteen months of believing the problem was her.

18months believing them

3am, heart racing

"I'd lie there running through everything I'd ever done wrong. I'd never had a panic attack in my life."

44

GP number one

"You've got a lot on. It's probably stress. Try to get more sleep." Ten minutes. A sleeping pill.

45

GP number two

Blood test. "Your hormones are normal. You're too young for that." So I did what women do. I decided it was me.

46

A nurse, over coffee

"Maybe you're peri. Write it all down. Dates, how often, how bad. And bring the page."

46

The appointment that was different

Four weeks tracked, one page written, a long consult booked. The doctor read it and asked: "Why didn't anyone pick this up earlier?"

47

The guides I should have been handed

Plain English, sourced from the people who set the standards here, written for adults. And the Doctor Kit in every one, because the appointment is where it's won or lost.

Nicole

"If you're reading this at 3am: you're not going mad. Nobody explained this to you. That's about to change."

In their words

What Australian women told the Senate.

Hundreds of women wrote to the 2024 Senate inquiry. Public record. Their words, not ours.

She dismissed me and said, 'You're far too young.' I was 45.
Jennifer, BrisbaneSenate inquiry hearing, July 2024
I was so scared and frustrated. I thought I was getting dementia.
Camilla, 43ABC News, March 2025
You have to go and present a case to someone who is infinitely more knowledgeable than you and beg.
Frances, TamworthABC News, September 2024
The final straw was when my daughter asked me "What is wrong with you?" as I was snapping at her.
KimSenate inquiry, submission 256
I had no idea that this existed in this day and age.

I wish I knew at 30 what I know now. Perimenopause is not for old ladies and is not just hot flushes.

Before you decide

Fair questions.

Which guide should I buy?

Take the two-minute check on this page. Roughly: periods still happening, even regular, is Peri. Stopped in the last five years is Meno. Longer than that is Post. Straddling two, or buying for a sister as well: the complete set.

What if I pick the wrong stage?

Email us and we send you the right guide, free, no questions. Every guide opens with "this guide is for you if…", so you'll know within a page.

My periods are regular and I've never had a hot flush. Is it still for me?

That's the most common way it starts, and the most commonly missed. Sleep, anxiety, rage and lost words often come years before periods change. The Peri guide is written for exactly this.

Is this medical advice?

No. It's an educational resource. It explains what's happening, helps you document it and prepares you for a proper conversation with a doctor who knows you. It doesn't diagnose or prescribe. It makes the appointment work.

What exactly do I receive?

Two PDFs by email within minutes: your guide (about 55 pages, designed for a phone) and the Tools file (tracker, GP sheet, question card, made to print). The complete set is three guides plus the Tools file.

I went through it early, or after surgery or cancer treatment. Does it cover me?

Yes. The check routes you by age when periods can't be used as a guide, and the Doctor Kit has a dedicated page for early, surgical and treatment-induced menopause.

Is it written for Australia?

Yes. Medicare, the PBS, the Australasian Menopause Society directory, the screening you're entitled to. The explanations work anywhere; the pages about the system are Australian.

What if it's not for me?

Email us within 30 days for a full refund. No form, no justification.
